Out of all the Iranian instruments, the Tar has the largest ranges of sounds.
A plectrum (made from brass and mixed with wax) is used to play the Tar. It is made from mulberry wood and stretched
lamb skin.
The Tar can be played as a backing instrument and as a solo instrument. It has the most complete range of sounds
out of all Iranian instruments.
Because in the last few decades an extra string has been added to it, the present day Tar does not have a long history.
